Tour detailPompeii, Herculaneum and Naples - Local Tour
This is an exclusive tour, an unparalleled experience, a dip in one of the richest and most engaging chapters of history of our time. We will visit 3 of the best known archaeological areas in Campania: the excavations of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples.
Pompeii was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site thanks to the presence of civil and private buildings, monuments, sculptures, paintings and mosaics of great importance for the history of archeology and for antiquity. The visitor entering through one of the ancient gates can cross the remains of ancient roads and admire houses, shops, the Forum, sacred areas, thermal complexes, theaters, amphitheater, monumental tombs and much more.
Herculaneum is a very famous archaeological site located about 10 km from Naples on the eastern side of Vesuvius and close to the sea. In 62 AD a strong earthquake destroyed many factories and seventeen years later (79 AD) the terrible eruption of Vesuvius completely buried the city. The excavations offer visitors the beauty of private houses and villas that still retain charred furniture, organic finds and multiple wooden elements belonging to the structural and architectural parts of the buildings.
Naples is a city with a very wide artistic, historical and cultural wealth; a set of churches, palaces and cloisters that follow one another in a tangle of alleys, a city of a thousand shades and contradictions, but a place that remains equally in the heart.
There are many sites of interest to visit: the historic center, the Spaccanapoli district, the heart of the city and an open-air museum, the Sansevero chapel with the Veiled Christ, Underground Naples, the Maschio Angioino symbol of royal power, Piazza Plebiscito, the famous and prestigious San Carlo Theater, the Royal Palace. And again the Galleria Umberto, the National Archaeological Museum, San Gregorio Armeno, the Castel dell’Ovo, the Capodimonte museum, Castel Sant’Elmo and the Posillipo hill from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the city and the gulf.
